No Crunch at Boldon!
The Autumn Fine Art and Antique Sale held in early September at Boldon Auction Galleries showed no sign of the current financial slump affecting many of the markets both here and abroad.
“Better the Devil you know!” was exactly what passed through the Auctioneer’s mind during one of our fortnightly Free valuation sessions when along came a fabulous Carlton Ware ‘Red Devil’ water jug with a come and buy me price of £300 - £400 it scorched away to furious bidding at £2,100 against a bank of Private Collectors who had booked telephone lines at Boldon Auction Galleries Summer Antique and Fine Art Sale held on 4th June.

Boldon Auction Galleries in Wonderland
Not even the cold North wind blowing outside could put off buyers coming to attend Boldon Auction Galleries Winter Antique and Fine Art Sale held on 5th December. Attendance was excellent at the last Antique Sale of 2007 with an ever-increasing number of registered bidders and on-line commission bids.
One of the highlights of the sale was a set of 14 Minton Tiles from 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' including the Mad Hatter, Walrus, White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts; which sold for £1,200. This was closely followed by lot 101, a set of 24 Minton tiles depicting nursery rhymes with such classics as ‘Old King Cole’, Ride a Cock Horse’, ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and ‘Wee Willie Winky’ and lot 102, a further 20 nursery rhymes tiles by Craven Dunnill & Company selling for £900 and £920 respectively..................
We are now accepting entries for our Spring Antique Auction which will be held on Wednesday 19th March 2008 and are delighted to announce that ITV's Dickinson's Real Deal will be returning to Boldon Auction Galleries for this sale. Filming will also take place at Alnwick Castle on Saturday 23rd February.

Boldon Auction Galleries, East Boldon had an extraordinary Antique Sale on the 12th September. Not only did the firm play host to David Dickinson and his ITV Crew for the popular daytime television programme ‘Dickinson’s Real Deal’ but also there were plenty of real life surprises in the Auction.
The Flog It Programme filmed here at Boldon Auction Galleries at our Antique Auction on 6th June 2007 will be transmitted on Monday 19th November and Thursday 29th November at 3.45pm on BBC2.
