The BBC’s Antiques Road Trip “motors in” to East Boldon
On Wednesday 26 May Boldon Auction Galleries will be welcoming the film crews, team – and classic car (!) - from the BBC’s Antiques Road Trip as two experts compete to see who can raise the most money at auction for the items they have purchased earlier in the week during their road trip through Britain.
This will be the second series of the Antiques Road Trip which the BBC describe as follows:
“Our experts travel the breadth and width of the country in search of rare curiosities and antiquities in the hope of finding a gem that will turn in a handsome profit! They set off in a classic car driving around the pretty country lanes, highways and byways, through towns and villages on a journey that leads them to the unexpected and the unusual. They visit grand mansions to the small and quirky telling us about the local interests and landmarks as they snake their way down the country. They meet the local antique dealers as they try to haggle the best price for their finds. We find out if they bought wisely at the auction. We see at first hand the highs and lows of the experts as the gavel falls on each of their lots determining a loss or profit. This carries through to the next day when the roller coaster starts all over again! By the end of the week the expert with the most profit wins and all the profits go to charity - Children In Need.”
The experts coming to Boldon Auction Galleries are Thomas Plant and James Braxton who are both regulars on Bargain Hunt and other antique programmes.
